Stakeholder Update Generator — Documentation

Turn a Jira project’s recent activity into a polished, audience-ready weekly status update, written by Atlassian’s on-platform AI, with health (RAG) status, accomplishments, blockers, and what’s next. Fully read-only in Jira.

Getting started

  1. Install the app from the Atlassian Marketplace.
  2. Open any Jira projectStakeholder Update page.
  3. Pick an audience (Executive, Client, Eng manager, Product) and click Generate update.

Audiences

The same project data is reframed per audience: Executive (concise, outcome-led), Client (polished, customer-safe), Eng manager (detailed: blockers, overdue, scope), and Product (feature and milestone progress).

Health (RAG) status

Health is decided by transparent rules — overdue count and high-priority items — with a one-line rationale. The AI writes the prose; the rules decide the colour. You can override the status manually before sharing.

Sharing & scheduling

Copy the generated update straight from the page and paste it wherever you share status (email, Slack, a wiki page, a doc). Enable the weekly toggle to auto-refresh the update on a schedule, so the latest version is ready each time you open the page.

Data & privacy

The app reads work-item summaries and metadata, sends them to Atlassian’s native on-platform AI to write the narrative (no external provider, no egress), and stores the generated update. It never modifies your Jira work items. See the privacy policy for detail.
